TEXAN CRESCENT

Anthanassa texana

Primarily found in the southern half of Alabama and Mississippi; Texan Crescent populations can be found further northward.  Typically associated with streams and rivers.  A dark brown species with a contrasting white median band on the upper surface of the hindwing.  The basal portions of both wings have orange reticulations on the upper surface.  The white band and orange bases are evident on the lower surface of the wings also.
