Epitheca princeps

(Prince Baskettail)

Epitheca princeps is by far the largest and most boldly marked of its genus in our area. It is quite common, and can be found throughout Alabama and Mississippi. Males are most often seen endlessly patrolling around the edges of ponds, lakes, reservoirs, and pooled areas of larger streams and rivers.
