Erythrodiplax berenice is one of the few species of odonates that is specialized to breed in brackish or salt water; as a result, its distribution in Alabama and Mississippi is restricted to counties adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico. The species can be found around wet, grassy areas in or adjacent to salt marshes.
