Tramea calverti
(Striped Saddlebags)
Tramea calverti was first documented from Alabama on 6 September 2016, when several individuals were observed and photographed at the Fort Morgan historical site along the Gulf Coast in Baldwin County. There is also an undocumented anecdotal record of the species from the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. While stray individuals are undoubtedly present from time to time along the coasts of both states, it is unlikely that T. calverti breeds in our area. If they do, however, shallow vegetated ponds are the preferred breeding habitat.
