CONFUSED CLOUDYWING

Thorybes confusis

Found throughout Alabama and Mississippi.  As its name implies, this species can be difficult to distinguish from the closely related Northern and Southern Cloudywings.  While the pattern of white spots on the front wings can be highly variable, the row of small white spots near the wing tip typically has the bottom spot displaced towards the tip of the wings. In addition, the Confused Cloudywing usually has a pale face.  Similar species: Northern Cloudywing and Southern Cloudywing
