Probably occurs throughout both states wherever preferred habitat of pine barrens is found.  Males perch on pines in open areas awaiting females.  Larvae use various pine species for feeding.  Ventral surface with bands of dark and light brown.  Hindwing has gray along margin and dark arrowhead markings in submarginal area.
