LITTLE YELLOW

Pyrisitia lisa

Widespread and common throughout both Alabama and Mississippi.  This small sulphur flies nearly year round in our region.  Readily identifiable by one or two small black dots at base of ventral hindwing.  There is usually a larger pale brown spot toward the outer hindwing margin on the lower surface.  Dorsal surface yellow in males and pale yellow or white in females, with black borders.  Similar species: Barred Yellow
