Enallagma cardenium

(Purple Bluet)

Enallagma cardenium is restricted in Alabama to the extreme southern part of the state; it has not been found in Mississippi. Usual habitat is small, shaded streams. Was previously considered to be conspecific with E. coecum from the West Indies, but recent studies have shown them to be two distinct species.
