Orthemis ferruginea
(Roseate Skimmer)
Orthemis ferruginea is found in several counties in the southern portions of Alabama and Mississippi and is probably more common than these current records indicate. This vividly colored dragonfly is usually associated with ponds and muddy pools, some of questionable water quality, and can also utilize roadside ditches and temporary pools.
