APPALACHIAN BROWN

Satyrodes appalachia

Currently, this species is only known to occur in the northern 2/3 of Alabama and Mississippi, where it is typically associated with wet wooded habitats.  Outer surface of wings more uniformly brown or tan and hindwing more rounded than the Pearly-Eyes.  Dorsal surface of forewing with submarginal spots that are less conspicuous than those of the Pearly-Eyes.  Similar species: Northern Pearly-Eye
