Found in coastal counties of both Alabama and Mississippi and in counties across the central area of both states.  Typically associated with wetlands found in wooded areas and along the coast.  Lower surface orange or brown with lighter pale chevron shaped band on both wings.  Upper surface brown with pale to dark orange markings.  Forewing of male has orange markings that form a complete circle around a central dark spot; in females, the orange markings  form an "open" circle around dark spot.
