CREOLE PEARLY-EYE

Enodia creola

Probably occurs throughout both Alabama and Mississippi wherever suitable habitat of canebrakes exists.  Lower surface of wings with more boldly contrasting pattern than Appalachian Brown.  Forewing typically has five submarginal eyespots instead of four as in other Pearly-Eyes.  Postmedian line on lower surface of forewing forms a bulge towards the edge of the wing that resembles "knuckles".  Similar species: Northern Pearly-Eye and Southern Pearly-Eye
