Found in shaded swamps and wet roadside ditches and very localized in distribution.  Upper surface of wings very dark with very limited orange markings.  Male has black stigma that can be hard to see on dark background.  Under sides of wings dark orange with paler band that extends to edge of wing margin.  Forewing has a dark center.  Similar species:  Dion Skipper
