EDWARD'S HAIRSTREAK

Satyrium edwardsii

Known from only two counties in Alabama, Cleburne and Dekalb, this species is probably restricted to the extreme northeastern counties of the state.  The ventral surfaces of the wings are pale gray-brown in color with a postmedian band of distinct ovals each of which is encircled in white.  The blue lunule on the hindwing has a thin orange cap and there is a distinct orange elongated mark along the trailing hindwing margin.  Similar species: Banded Hairstreak
