SOUTHERN CLOUDYWING

Thorybes bathyllus

A common species found throughout Alabama and Mississippi.  Upper surface of forewing dark brown with broad, glassy white spots forming an aligned band.  White spots toward tip of forewing form a straight line.  Fringes of wings can be checkered tan or whitish.  Face is often pale and the antennal clubs may have a white area at the bend.  Similar species:  Northern Cloudywing and Confused Cloudywing
