NORTHERN PEARLY-EYE

Enodia anthedon

Possibly restricted to the northern 2/3 of Alabama and Mississippi; however, this species has been reported from two counties in the southwest corner of Mississippi.  Lower surface of wings with more boldly contrasting pattern than Appalachian Brown. Very similar to Southern Pearly-Eye but antennal clubs with yellow at tip and black at base.  Four eyespots on forewing form a straight line.  Spots on dorsal surface of forewing more conspicuous than Appalachian Brown.  Similar species:  Appalachian Brown, Creole Pearly-Eye, and Southern Pearly-Eye
