QUESTION MARK

Polygonia interrogationis

Expected to occur throughout both Alabama and Mississippi.  Gets its common name from the silvery "question mark" shaped spots on the lower surface.  Summer form has upper surface of hindwing darker than winter form.  Dorsal surface of forewing has three spots and a dash, which distinguishes it from the Eastern Comma.  Similar Species: Eastern Comma
