Found throughout both Alabama and Mississippi; may be absent from northernmost counties of both states.  Flies most of the year.  Underside of males orange with two broken rows of large brown spots on hindwing.  Underside of females brown with two broken rows of large brown spots on hindwing and pale spots on forewing.  Upper surface of males orange with black stigma connected to black patch, which is pointing to tip of forewing.  Black on hindwing of males smooth where it meets orange.  Upper surface of females dark brown with with small pale spots on forewing.  Similar species: Fiery Skipper and Sachem
