YEHL SKIPPER

Widely scattered, local populations throughout much of Alabama and Mississippi, in or near swampy woods.  Ventral surface of wings orange in males and brown in females; hindwing of both males and females has a pale ray with one spot above and two spots below.  Males have a thin black stigma with orange above and below.  Females have less orange on the dorsal surface, especially on the forewing.  Similar species: Broad-winged Skipper
